Eki Orleans Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection ‘Nostalgia’
Named ‘Nostalgia’, designer Hazel Aggrey-Orleans of brand Eki Orleans successfully showed her latest AW12 collection at Arise Fashion Week in Lagos Nigeria and Zip Zone during Paris Fashion Week.
Looking into the rich history of her African roots, Orleans found inspiration in objects that symbolised music and movement. The importance of the calabash musical instrument in African culture, led Orleans to create prints that are bold, feminine and stunning, which was her take on the melodic, mellow and earthly rhythms of the calabash.
Creating a collection where each prints tells a story, Orleans constructed a design narrative that invokes the feeling of joy, freedom and sensuality associated with the rhythmic sounds of the calabash.
With delicate draping, curve-enhancing and flowing silhouettes, Eki Orleans ‘Nostalgia’ AW12 collections allows the wearer to celebrate history in a modern, fresh and high fashion way.
