Homegrown: Producer Jiff presents ‘Welcome to Naijand House’ Mixtape

Jiff, aka The General, the multitalented producer, singer, songwriter, and rapper stamped his presence in the music industry as a member of a hiphop duo, Paragon, in 1998.

After a few singles and album releases Jiff decided to try something different by going solo.

“I have always wanted to write and produce songs that encompass who I am and place those songs on different musical genres,” explains the British born Nigerian.

The 2009 Nigerian Music Video Award nominee spent years entering talent competitions and helping out at recording studios. “I was also registered as an extra for movies and music videos and I can’t even begin count how movies and music videos I was an extra for. I was just trying everything I could to get into the business.” This is the tenacity that has brought Jiff to the position he is at today.

Today, Jiff is lending his production skills to Afrobeat artists across the world such as Modenine, Sound Sultan, Orezi, Ice Prince, Naira, Dele and many more. Jiff has also embarked on a production mixtape series of what he has coined ‘Naijand House’ where Naija represents his heritage and Jand, pigeon language for London, represents where he resides.

For Jiff, who cites R.Kelly, Prince and Babyface as among those who have inspired his adeptness as a songwriter and Teddy Riley, David Guetta and Timbaland as producers, the release of ‘Welcome To Naijand House’ is only the beginning of great things to come from this ambitious artist.
